Next weekend is the Levitation festival in Austin, where Slowdive will be headlining Friday night. In celebration, here’s an entire unreleased Slowdive soundtrack album. Some of these are minor fill pieces, and others you’ve heard before (“Cranium (Film Mix)” is “Blue Skied an’ Clear”). And I already posted “I Believe” a while back, but it’s worked its way into my Slowdive Top 10.

Here’s an entire hour-long Slowdive concert that took place less than two weeks ago at the Paredes de Coura festival in Portugal. Evidently this went out on Portuguese radio (in mono), and includes nice versions of “Catch the Breeze” and “Machine Gun.”
And just as soon as Slowdive puts out a live album from the current tour I’ll be in full “shut up and take my money” mode…

I’m really digging that Saint Marie Records Static Waves 3 album I talked about last week, though it turns out that only about one-third of the songs on it are actually Slowdive covers.
I was completely unaware of Houston band Drowner before they released this amazing cover of “Hide Yer Eyes,” an unreleased Slowdive song I’d never heard before:
I wonder if vocalist Anna Bouchard is doing the harmony electronically, via overdubbing, or with a guest vocalist.

I think this is one of those rare cases where the cover is better than the original.
I said the fastest way for a band to get featured her is to do a credible cover of Slowdive’s “Primal,” and Scarlet Youth has picked up the gauntlet. It’s not a great cover of “Primal,” but it’s a credible one, so here it is.
It’s off of this compilation album that’s entirely Slowdive covers. Echodrone? SPC ECO? 42 songs for $9.99?

Evidently this was originally an Eternal song, Eternal being the band Christian Savill was in before Slowidve.

Also, evidently the Judge Dredd remake has some impressive slow-motion set-pieces…
